Private Jet Mishap Sparks Federal Probe
"A Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed as it was taking off from Bangor International Airport in Maine around 7:45 p.m. local time on Sunday, Jan. 25. Eight people were on board. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) will investigate," the FAA confirmed on the US social media company X’s platform.
Earlier, airport officials issued a public notice urging people to stay away from the facility. “Please avoid the airport. The runway is closed at this time,” the airport said earlier in a statement on social media.
Authorities later noted that the crash remains under review and that emergency personnel were dispatched and remain present at the location.
So far, there has been no official information released regarding the severity or nature of injuries sustained by those traveling on the jet.
According to a news agency, which referenced recordings from air traffic control communications, the pilot had received authorization to depart from Bangor’s Runway 33.
Moments later, all aircraft movement was halted after controllers indicated that a passenger plane had flipped over, prompting the shutdown of the airport and the deployment of rescue and emergency units.
Records indicate that the aircraft involved is registered to a company headquartered in Houston.
